IT STARTED WITH HOCKEY DADS.

Before The Bar Downs, there was the “hockey dad band.” All of our kids played on the same high school hockey team.

The high school hockey team gathered on the ice with a trophy — Where our paths crossed.

The idea started at a parent pregame party at Dave’s house. A real music fan, Dave knew Scott played guitar. Soon, Scott, Nate, Tom, and Bob were planning to get together, jam, and play a graduation party. Mike joined shortly after.

The plan was simple: play a few graduation parties and call it a day.

Instead, it grew into something bigger than any of us imagined. Graduation parties led to amazing stages, friendships, and opportunities to play alongside incredible musicians. Through it all, the heart of the band has stayed the same: people coming together for the love of music.
